It is officially summer!!!
Typically we dive into summer and our much anticipated ‘summer wardrobe’ with great excitement.
Admittedly this year is a little different.
I believe this year, many of us have a new and perhaps evolved appreciation for fashion.
While we may covet the latest in design, I think we have all come to realize that we don’t need or wear as much as we think we do.
As we head into summer and safely begin to socialize it seems we are all doing so with a refreshing perspective on our apparel.
The best bet for a fun and fashionable summer is to keep it simple, classic, and interchangeable.
Cotton OR Floral Dress
I personally love white for the summer. It’s fresh, crisp, timeless and elegant. But another favourite is the floral dress whether it be a print or an appliqué it screams summer. How cute is this?!
Need a serious but still fun summer look? This piece is perfect to have paired with a blazer (the perfect summer suit), a polished tank top, or a summer blouse.
A linen blend pant is always perfect for the summer, very Grecian. Finding a combination of fabrics with linen will lessen the wrinkled look that some may shy away from. A cotton pant is a wardrobe staple, but perhaps a little lighter in weight for this season.
A classic and one that you can layer. The trick to this one is the right fit and the weight of the fabric – it’s a summer must-have.
A feminine blouse is the perfect choice for that BBQ in the backyard or a summer’s evening. It’s a dressier choice from our daywear. This piece when worn with a pant or tailored short elevates the look without being over-the-top.
There are beautiful blends for summer that will not only keep you warm if perhaps there is a chill in the air or if you are out for a stroll by the water in the evening.
The sneaker is a multi-purpose choice for footwear. It suits any of the above choices and gives a more casual-chic look while remaining polished. A light-weight choice is easier to pair than some of the trendy heavy looks.
We may be apprehensive about showing our toes since it has been a while since our last pedicure?! We will get there again and personally with a DIY pedicure (which is adequate) this is a must-have.
These eight pieces are the essentials and I am sure most of us have these pieces already in our closets.
Our focus at this time is on the many important issues that are taking place in the world while maintaining our lives and carrying on in this new way of living.
Keeping it simple and classic is probably the best advice I can give at any time, but even more so right now.
Our personal brand remains and will always continue to be a very big part of who we are and taking pride in that is indispensable.
