When we think about where to start when building our wardrobe, timeless pieces are always the best choice.
Even during our challenging times, we are looking for pieces that will give us that little “extra” spring in our step – something that we can rely on for each spring/summer season! Insert straw and raffia – these pieces have evolved over the years and yet continue to be on the “hot trends” list – oh how I can see the iconic images of Sophia Loren, or Bridget Bardot sporting these pieces with elegance and playfulness!
There are so many different choices that are elevated yet won’t break the bank – these pieces will give you that je ne se quoi we are all looking for. From hats to jewelry, belts, shoes or home decor investing in this category or shall we call it, natural byproduct, is also a conscious way of choosing in a mindful way. With the overarching society and cultural shift toward sustainability, it is no surprise as to why raffia and straw accessories are a summertime staple that circle back year after year.
Neutral tones are and will always be a staple and a classic in our wardrobes. Raffia and straw are natural, undone, and imperfect – therefore, you are free to play with the form, pattern, and colour, so shake it up, mix and match and have fun with it! Here are some of my favourite finds, prints, and styles in these classic, versatile, and chic textured fibers, raffia and straw:
